Following Barcelona’s shocking 4-2 defeat to Girona in the Catalan derby, Real Madrid have officially secured the 2023/24 La Liga campaign.

This marks yet another significant achievement for Carlo Ancelotti and perhaps even more so for some of the older players in the squad, who continue to shower themselves with trophies.

Nacho Fernandez and Luka Modric, in particular, are in focus as the two veterans have now equalled Marcelo and Karim Benzema’s record of winning most trophies at Real Madrid.

All four of these players have recorded 25 titles each as a Real Madrid player, with Modric and Nacho in contention to win one more as Los Blancos are still alive in the UEFA Champions League.

Marcelo’s message to Nacho & Modric

In light of Nacho and Luka Modric’s milestone, former Real Madrid superstar Marcelo had a message for both the veterans.

The legendary fullback congratulated the two on their milestone. Posting an Instagram story with both the players in the frame, Marcelo wrote, “So proud of you guys! LEGENDS, 25 titles.”

Marcelo, who also won 25 trophies at Real Madrid, left Santiago Bernabeu in 2022, a year after Ancelotti’s re-appointment.

Currently plying his trade with his childhood club Flamengo, Marcelo still remains a popular figure in the Real Madrid dressing room, as he has shared the pitch with many of the stars in the current setup.

Although both Modric and Nacho equalled Marcelo’s record this week, the Brazilian will be hoping that they will beat his record by winning the Champions League this season.

Real Madrid are slated to take on Bayern Munich in the second leg of the semifinals on Wednesday, with the Spanish giants requiring a win to seal a ticket for the final.
