The last night was a forgettable one for Barcelona. The Catalans had to endure a crushing defeat to Girona, as they once again failed to retain a lead they had gotten in the first half to end the game with a 4-2 scoreline in the favour of their opponents.

This defeat can have significant implications for Barcelona, as it puts a second-place La Liga finish in doubt, which can cost them a Spanish Super Cup spot and a significant amount of prize money. But for most fans, this defeat would be painful mainly because it allowed their bitter rivals, Real Madrid, to be crowned as the Champions of Spain for this season.

Real Madrid had won their match over Cadiz before the game between the two Catalan sides, and thus were unable to celebrate their title on the pitch. However, their players celebrated in the dressing room, and their fans were also full of ecstasy on social media platforms.

It was one such social media post that talked about the titles that some young players have won with Real Madrid raising some controversy in Barcelona. As SPORT has reported, the Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior used this post to throw some vitriol on the Catalan side.

Referring to the comments made by Ronald Araujo after Barcelona had won the Spanish Super Cup in 2023 and a documentary that was released by the club titled FC Barcelona: A New Era, Vinicius responded to this post by writing: “The new era”, with the text being accompanied with an emoticon showing a surprised look.

The Real Madrid winger simply could not let the opportunity to throw some mud on Barcelona pass by, and it is clear that these latest actions are not going to improve his standing in the eyes of Culers, irrespective of how well he performs on the pitch.
