Rio Ferdinand has outlined two conditions under which Jadon Sancho can “put pressure” on Manchester United and revive his career at the English club.

Since Sancho sought to escape from his troubles at United by rejoining Borussia Dortmund on loan. Since going back, the forward has displayed promising flashes of his former self, which initially prompted the Red Devils to splash big money on him.

He has managed three goals and one assist in 18 appearances from Dortmund but it’s his performances that have really caught the eye.

In Dortmund’s two-legged Champions League semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain especially, the 24-year-old was a constant source of threat and was arguably his side’s main man as they clinched their spot in the final.

Sancho’s displays in both clashes earned him rave reviews and sparked widespread inquest into how he failed to meet expectations at United.

Speaking on TNT Sports (via Manchester World), Ferdinand advised Sancho that there are two main ways he can make it happen at United if he were to return. One would be by continuing to demonstrate his good form and secondly, hope that Ten Hag is sacked as club boss.

Ferdinand said, “He is in good form and needs to follow it up, then he really puts pressure on Manchester United.”

“People behind the scenes, INEOS, will be asking why that isn’t happening in a Unite shirt. I think the only way he goes back is if Erik ten Hag isn’t there.”

“I don’t think they can undermine the manager without an apology, I think the manager has to be gone for Sancho to go back to Manchester United.”

Owen Hargreaves explained that Sancho still has the capability to come good with the 20-time English champions despite obvious reservations about him.

Hargreaves insisted, “If you pair him with the players, there is the potential to grow them into something really big. Jadon could be a part of that and he should be excited to be with that.”

All eyes are on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, who will ultimately make the final decision on the future of both Sancho and Ten Hag.
