The Serie A title with Inter Milan is the perfect reward for the partnership between Simone Inzaghi and athletic coach Fabio Ripert.

This is highlighted by Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper note that the duo have been working side-by-side for well over a decade.

As the Gazzetta note, the first time that Inzaghi and Ripert ever crossed paths was on May 14th, 2000.

It was in odd, but certainly dramatic circumstances.

The two men met in the Lazio dressing room at the Stadio Olimpico.

That was where Biancocelesti coach Sven-Goran Eriksson had gathered the entire Lazio squad to watch the ending of Juventus’s Serie A match away to Perugia.

The Bianconeri had lost that match 1-0, whilst Lazio had won their own final match of the season 3-0.

Therefore, Lazio won the Serie A title that season.

The Biancocelesti players were all riveted following the Juventus match. But Ripert had also snuck into the dressing room.

The next time that Inzaghi and Ripert crossed paths, Inzaghi was no longer a player.

Rather, upon hanging up his boots the former striker stayed at Lazio to become a coach.

Starting in 2010, Inzaghi began coaching the Biancocelesti’s youth teams.

And Ripert started working with Inzaghi at that point – and it is a partnership that has lasted ever since.

Ripert and Inzaghi worked together in charge of Lazio’s senior team between 2016 and 2021.

Then, when Inzaghi made the move to Inter, Ripert followed him.

Ripert has had a key role in Inzaghi’s coaching setup.

The Inter coach is known for giving key roles to various members of his staff, and for having a very loyal core that assists him in his work.

Ripert has certainly been one pillar of that setup.

The 50-year-old has been the man who’s kept the Inter squad’s condition at its peak.

And now, Ripert can celebrate along with his lifelong friend Inzaghi. He helped get Inter through a gruelling season at their best physically, and won the Serie A title.
