When all was said and done at San Mamés, the Nervionenses were condemned to the wrong side of an altogether disappointing 2-0 scoreline.

And yet, the eventual result did not mark Sevilla’s only source of concern yesterday evening.

In addition, inside the opening 45 minutes, captain Jesús Navas was forced to limp out of proceedings, with what appeared to be a muscular problem.

Navas, in turn, underwent a round of medical scans on Monday, to ascertain the extent of the damage.

And, as much have since confirmed that the 38-year-old – fresh off putting pen to paper on a short-term contract extension in Andalusia – has picked up a thigh injury.

As per an official statement across Sevilla’s website and social media platforms:

‘The Sevilla FC Medical Services report that Jesús Navas suffers from an overload in the femoral biceps of his left leg , an ailment that forced him to be substituted this Sunday in the match against Athletic Club in San Mamés while the first half was still being played.’

Navas’ status for Sevilla’s final outing of the campaign, against Barcelona this coming Sunday, has in turn been thrown up in the air.
