A headline member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona could yet go on to mark his return to the pitch at this summer’s European Championships.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Alejandro Balde as being the player in question.

Left-back Balde, for his part, has of course not taken to the pitch since all the way back in January.

As much comes after a hamstring injury suffered during a meeting with Athletic Club saw the youngster forced under the knife.

Balde has spent the months since in an extensive recovery process, with his latest social media activity having given rise to hope that the stopper will soon mark his return to the pitch:

As confirmed by Mundo Deportivo, as much will not come this season, with too little time remaining in Barca’s La Liga campaign for Balde to feature.

The 20-year-old, though, could yet go on to line out at a competitive level over the summer.

This comes with it added that, in the case of Balde finishing out his rehab in time, he will make himself available for selection for Spain at Euro 2024.
