Lucas Peréz has been linked with a surprise Arsenal return as Theo Walcott looks to depart.

The Spanish forward is currently on loan with Deportivo, scoring four times in 15 LaLiga appearances.

However, the Mirror insist Arsène Wenger remains a fan of the 29-year-old and could have a space for him if Walcott leaves the Emirates Stadium this month.

Having started no Premier League games so far this season, Walcott is hoping to secure a loan deal as he refuses to give up hope of featuring at next summer’s World Cup.

The England international is understandably frustrated by a lack of first-team opportunities, which have not even been forthcoming with Olivier Giroud injured for the last month and is reportedly attracting interest from Everton, West Ham United and Southampton.

Given how little Walcott has featured, there would be legitimate questions over whether or not recalling Lucas would actually be worthwhile.
