This comes amid confirmation that, as things stand, La Masia products Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí look set to sit out the Olympic Games.

Recent months had seen widespread reports in the media point towards the Spanish football authorities as giving serious consideration to calling Lamine and Cubarsí up for both the upcoming European Champions, and Olympics.

As per the aforementioned MD, however, after representatives from Barcelona pleaded their case during a recent meeting between the parties, ‘it is almost taken for granted that Lamine and Cubarsí will only play with the senior team in the Euro Cup’.

It is also noted, though, that replacing the two Blaugrana talents on the Olympic wishlist of La Roja are two more players on the books in Catalunya’s capital.

The pair in question? On-loan defender Eric García, and midfield goalscorer Fermín López.
