‘We can’t’ – Barcelona chief Deco’s message in meeting with agent of Martín Zubimendi | OneFootball

An insight into some of the finer details of the meeting between Barcelona and the entourage of Real Sociedad star Martín Zubimendi has today been forthcoming online.

The name of midfielder Zubimendi has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last 24 hours.

As much comes after confirmation was forthcoming that Barcelona sporting director Deco this week sat down with the agents of the Real Sociedad star.

Zubimendi has long established himself as something of a favourite on the part of Blaugrana head coach Xavi, who considers the Spanish international the ideal long-term heir to Sergio Busquets at the base of his midfield.

Deco, in turn, has already moved to do his part in securing for the club’s headmaster what he considers would be a game-changing signing.

And yet, whilst Barcelona’s interest was made crystal clear to Zubimendi’s team, they left the meeting no closer to actually finding a deal.

This comes with the message conveyed to the Catalans having been a clear one – Real Sociedad will not part with their star midfielder for any less than the full value of his release clause – €60 million.

Diario Sport, in turn, sum up Deco’s response in simple terms:
