The agent of Napoli midfielder Jorginho has warned his client against joining Manchester United or City because of the miserable Manchester weather.

Jorginho is reportedly seen by United boss José Mourinho as a potential long-term successor to Michael Carrick, while City are also understood to be keeping tabs on the Brazil-born Italian international.

But the 26-year-old’s agent Joao Santos insists the former Verona man is happy where he is and isn’t in any rush to kiss goodbye to the Naples weather.

“From June he’ll have two years on his contract and maybe we’ll start discussing it then, it’s pointless messing with his head,” Santos told the media in Italy.

“The contract isn’t expiring any time soon, there’s time. He’s happy in Naples, Jorginho is happy and the city is very beautiful.

“Manchester United and Manchester City? When you’re playing for the Serie A leaders it’s only logical that important teams will ask for updates: for example on the length of the contract.

“I’m glad to come here [to Naples] too, it’s a very Brazilian climate. In Manchester it rains too often!”

Jorginho played and scored against Pep Guardiola’s side in the Champions League earlier this season but it seems more likely he will end up at Old Trafford than the Etihad Stadium in future, particularly in light of Thursday’s news that Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred has chosen to join City over United.
