There is much uncertainty surrounding the continuity of Felix. As for Cancelo, the outlook remains pretty much the same.

Anything is possible

According to a recent report from Alex Pintanel, Barcelona are clear about reinforcing the left-back position this summer.

The club are set to bid farewell to Marcos Alonso, who is set to join Atletico Madrid, whereas Alejandro Balde’s injury record and slow growth have raised alarm bells.

This has once put Cancelo back into focus. The report suggests that anything can happen in regard to the Portuguese international’s future at Camp Nou.

Barcelona, as a club, value Cancelo quite highly due to his technical ability and versatility. However, the coaching staff is not so clear about his continuity.

Cancelo’s recent performances have been far from convincing, with the Man City loanee often failing to show enough defensive acumen.

Manchester City not open to another loan

Barcelona’s bid to retain the services of Cancelo could get complicated by Manchester City’s unwillingness to send the player on yet another loan deal.

That means Barcelona must commit a significant transfer amount if they are to attain the services of Cancelo next season.

This, coupled with doubts from the technical team, have now put Cancelo’s future at Barça up in the air. The coming months, therefore, could prove to be pivotal as Barça look to get rid of unwanted stars in an attempt to free up the salary mass.
