The Premier League have announced there have been six positive tests for COVID-19 from across the division.

Around 748 players and club staff were tested on Sunday May 17 and Monday May 18 as preparations for the resumption of the 2019/20 campaign begin to step up.

It has been confirmed that six people have tested positive for the virus from across three clubs.

In an official statement, the Premier League stated that: “Players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate for a period of seven days.”

The identity of these individuals or the clubs has not been revealed.

On Monday, clubs agreed to start non-contact training in small groups from Tuesday.

There has been no confirmation of an official restart at this stage but it is believed the league is working towards resuming on June 12.

Football has been suspended in England since mid-March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bundesliga resumed behind closed doors over the weekend offering hope of a resumption for the Premier League when it is deemed safe to do so.
