Bayer Leverkusen cruised into the DFB-Pokal final courtesy of a four-goal drubbing of Fortuna DĂĽsseldorf.
Scorers: Frimpong 7′, Adli 20′, Wirtz 35′, (PEN) 60′
Jeremie Frimpong handed the Bundesliga champions-elect an early lead with a sweeping finish into the roof of the net from the far side of the box.
The Werkself extended their advantage in the 20th minute when Amine Adli rounded off a solid counterattack with a shot just inside the penalty area.
Florian Wirtz, who set up his side’s second, made it three just a quarter of an hour later as the hosts capitalised on a mistake by Düsseldorf’s backline.
Wirtz doubled his tally on the hour mark from the penalty spot after a VAR review for handball to wrap up a showpiece place for Xabi Alonso’s side.
Leverkusen will take on Kaiserslauten, who ended giant killers Saarbrücken’s run, at the Olympiastadion on 25 May.
