After more than a decade and almost 400 appearances in the red of Arsenal, Theo Walcott will now be wearing Everton blue.

The England winger has sealed a move to Merseyside, Everton confirmed on Wednesday.

Everton will pay a reported £20m fee and the player signs until 2021.

Walcott joined Arsenal from Southampton as a 16-year-old in 2006 for a base fee of £5 million.

He’s gone on to play 399 times for the Gunners, scoring a total of 108 goals.

But his opportunities have diminished in recent seasons as Arsenal have brought in established attacking players like Mesut Özil, Alexis Sánchez and Alexandre Lacazette.

Walcott has failed to start a single match in the Premier League this season and at 28 years old, he has opted for the more regular playing time that Everton can offer.

Everton’s manager, Sam Allardyce, explained what he likes about the speedy winger.

Allardyce said: “His pace is a key strength which we lack. To add goals would be very important for me. And he’s only 28.”

Walcott could make his Everton debut on Saturday against West Bromwich Albion.
